The new EGNOS configuration includes the GPS Block III new satellites since the 27th of July 2020.
Advances in technology and user demands have led to the modernization of the GPS constellation with the new capability-improved GPS Block III satellites. The US, as owner of the system, recently replaced two Block II satellites as part of such modernization plan.
The EGNOS program launched specific activities to integrate these GPS constellation updates. The implemented actions have led to the successful deployment of a new configuration that includes the modern GPS Block III PRN 4 and PRN 18 in the PRN mask of the EGNOS GEO satellites, improving the affected performance in the North of the EGNOS Service Area and bringing the service back to nominal.
Hence, EGNOS has achieved a key milestone ensuring the robustness of the system and demonstrating its commitment to deliver to the user a high quality performance.
